Red River Kitchen is a local independent restaurant, food truck and event space founded by Matty O’Reilly (also owner of Republic and Bar Brigade). The concept was inspired by the Red River Trial, an old oxcart trail that stretched from Winnipeg to Saint Paul. Back in the 1850’s, the Red River Trail was the only form of transportation between the two places with stops along the way for travelers to pick up provisions for their journey. Red River Kitchen, led by award-winning Chef JD Fratzke, pays homage to Minnesota tradition by sourcing many farm-direct goods from vendors up and down the former Red River Trail.
Founded back in 2014 as one lone food truck, the Red River Kitchen is now two brick-and-mortar restaurant spaces, three food trucks and a liquor catering vehicle that all handle more than 300 events annually.
